Kaspersky home products can be tried free for 30 days – with all features and no restrictions. For business solutions, we arrange a trial version separately.

For home users

The trial version runs for 30 days and includes all features of the plan. When the period ends, the program stays installed – you just need to enter an activation code.

  1. Choose a plan – “Standard”, “Plus” or Premium. If you are not sure, start with Plus – that way you will see both the VPN and the password vault.
  2. Download the app of downloads page and install it.
  3. Choose a trial version – the app will ask you to log in to your My Kaspersky account or create one.
  4. Use it for 30 days – and only then decide what you actually need.

Uninstall any other antivirus programs before installing – two running at the same time interfere with each other.

What is worth checking during those 30 days

A trial version is only useful if you actually use it. Here is a short list of what to do in the first week.

  • Run a full scan. Not the quick scan – the full one. It is often what reveals things that have been sitting on the computer for a long time.
  • Check whether your computer has slowed down. Open the apps you use every day. If you do not notice any difference, that is a good sign.
  • Try out payment protection. Log in to your bank: the page should open in a protected window.
  • If you are trying Plus or Premium, turn on the VPN and see whether the speed suits you.
  • Move a few passwords into the vault and check how syncing with your phone works.
  • Install protection on your phone too. The trial version works there too – and it is on the phone that the most important logins are kept.

What the trial version will not show

One thing you cannot judge in 30 days is how the protection behaves when something really happens. That only shows in tests by independent laboratories, where the same threats are thrown at every product under identical conditions. We have collected the results on a separate page.
